Floor slabs made in Haiti.
The massive earthquake in January 2010 was particularly devastating for the region around the capital Port-au-Prince and destroyed all existing professional training centres. In order to keep professional training available to the young people of the region, the German association Pro Haiti e.V. decided to build a professional training centre for mechanics and professions of the building industry - including the development of a production site for floor slabs.
As a development partner for the production of floor slabs, Weckenmann had already delivered a production table with a formwork system and a lifting traverse in August, 2010. Those were used for the construction of the floor slab elements of the training centre. Now, additional formwork tables are following.
The inhabitant's interest in the manufactured sectional ceilings is high. Pro Haiti hopes that many floor slabs will be produced by the training centre in the years to come, thus improving the living conditions of the people and contributing to the construction of earthquake-resistant buildings for the victims of the earthquake.
