Joists

The requirement for joists is designed on average at 80% prestressed / 20% loosely reinforced and complemented with inlaid stones on the construction site.

The inlaid stones were previously made from brick but have now been replaced by concrete products and wood, styrofoam and other materials.

Due to their very light weight (about 15 kg/linear meter) and volume, the joists can be economically transported to the construction site.

The partly-finished elements can be erected on the construction site using cranes with lower load capacities. This creates the possibility for private construction companies to lay floor slabs inexpensively, without a lot of expensive equipment or machines. The joists can be purchased from stock in certain modular lengths, reducing pre-ordering requirements for the customers`"ceiling" as well as other labour intensive planning operations.

As opposed to floor slabs, elements such as electric outlets, services, openings, etc. cannot be pre-installed in joists and must be manually carried out on site.

Additional reinforcement is not required and the complete slab is concreted with site concrete/covering. The prestressed joists do not require support, or only minimal support, during the curing period of the covering layer. The underside of the laid slab is not suitable for direct wallpapering or painting applications, it must be finished on site, where required.
